Mr. Tom Foti, the 2005 State, Tribal, and Local Program Development Award Winner, continues mapping existing and potential wetlands in Arkansas and throughout the Lower Mississippi Valley using a hydrogeomorphic classification system and physical features (e.g. geomorphology, soils, hydrology).
Along with state and federal partners, Foti is producing wetland maps that are helping guide the restoration efforts of the state of Arkansas,U.S. Department of Agriculture Wetlands Reserve Program, U.S. Department of Agriculture Conservation Reserve Program, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service - Lower Mississippi Valley Joint Venture.
